Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique™) is an “energy psychology” process designed by Gary Craig,
inspired by the pioneering work of Dr. Roger Callahan (Thought Field Therapy). It consists of
Through the study and research of acupuncture and Chinese medicine, it is believed that energy meridians run throughout the body, similar to the idea of veins and arteries in the circulatory system. Just like the circulatory system delivers live-giving blood to the body, the meridian system is responsible for moving life energy, or healing resources throughout the body. There are various points along the meridian system called acupuncture points which correlate to different body systems, organs, and emotions. When a person experiences illness or unresolved trauma, it is thought that the flow of energy is disrupted. The basic assumption in EFT is that all negative emotions are caused by an energy disruption in the meridians and acupuncture points. The EFT process is designed to correct the disruption and re-establish balance to the meridian system. So basically, EFT is a realignment process, accomplished through gentle tapping on key meridian points to restore balance and enhance our natural healing potential. Think of it as an emotional version of acupuncture.. but without the needles! There are several versions of tapping techniques which have positive research confirming their effectiveness. Debbie utilizes EFT because it is easy to use, clients learn how to use it in the first session, and it can be a powerful adjunct to hypnotherapy. EFT can be used for just about anything. Examples include eliminating fears, improving self-confidence, addressing trauma, managing pain, dealing with sadness, clearing addictions, reducing/eliminating cravings, quitting smoking, losing weight, managing stress, and dealing with physical problems.
