Are you ready to take control of your life and quit smoking / quit chewing tobacco?
The first step to being free of tobacco is to make a list of all the right reasons for quitting.
What is motivating you to quit smoking or chewing? Most people focus
on the things they want to avoid such as lung cancer, mouth cancer, emphysema, coughing, the
smell, and how tobacco usage affects their health and energy. All of these reasons
are valid and accurate but I encourage you to also focus on all the benefits you get when you
quit smoking or chewing tobacco.
Imagine your life free of tobacco. Imagine that you have already quit smoking /
chewing / dipping...
- You are able to easily breathe deeply and freely
- Feel how much energy you have
- Notice how pleasant your car, clothes, and hair smell
- Notice how clean your teeth are and how your breath is fresh
- Enjoy being able to participate in your favorite sport or activity with endurance and stamina
- Think how you will spend the money you are saving
- Feel how relaxed you have become as you manage stress more effectively
How does that feel as you focus on the benefits of being tobacco free? Call Debbie today

Personalized Quit Smoking Now! & Quit Chewing Now! Services
Debbie's smoking cessation and chewing cessation programs empower you to quit smoking or
chewing more easily. Each package consists of a single three hour session
with a one hour follow up session the next week. In addition to benefitting from
Debbie’s experience and expertise, clients receive additional resources, including 2 CD’s,
to support their success. Cost for either program is only $325.
First Session - What to Expect
The first session in the Quit Smoking Now! and Quit Chewing Now! programs is three hours in length.
The session is very comprehensive and highly interactive. It begins with Debbie taking a
health and tobacco history. The triggers of tobacco use are explored and utilized to construct
hypnotic suggestions that are specific and appropriate for each individual. The subconscious
reasons for smoking or chewing are also incorporated into the treatment plan so all aspects of history,
habit, triggers, and physical addiction are taken into consideration and addressed.
Stress is a huge trigger for smoking, chewing, and pretty much any addiction.  The Quit
Smoking Now! and Quit Chewing Now! programs both provide stress management techniques to help position
each individual to remain tobacco free. Note: For clients whose lives are exceptionally
stressful, Debbie highly recommends they take her
Healthy Living Stress Management
class or schedule a few personalized Stress Management sessions to help bring balance back into
their lives.
Follow-Up Session - What to Expect
The session begins with a check-in. Since most clients return tobacco free, the session usually
focuses on stress management. Several options are available including
Hypnosis,
Guided Imagery,
Biofeedback,
Energy Tapping (EFT), and relaxation exercises.
Occassionally someone reports having cut down their use of tobacco, but they are not yet tobacco free.
Debbie’s response is “Good work for the success you have accomplished!
Notice what you have learned and any insights you have gained. Now let’s take a look at what
is still needed to help you be even more successful.” By being sensitive to each person
Debbie is able to tailor her approach to meet individual needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I use the patch or nicotine gum before I come in or after the first session?
|
You can if you want to, but it is not necessary. Most clients find they do not need them,
while a few find them to be helpful.
|
|
The bottom line is, as long as you have nicotine in the body, the neurotransmitters and receptors
affected by tobacco will be out of balance - thus the physcial and emotional addiction.
Once nicotine is out of the body, the body will immediately begin to re-regulate these
neurotransmitters and receptors, normalizing them within a few weeks.
|
|
If you decide to use nicotine replacement products, you need to follow the directions as labeled so
you will eventually be decreasing the dose and finally stop altogether.
|
|
What about prescription medications to stop smoking or stop chewing?
|
As mentioned above, most clients find they really don’t need to use these medications.
On occassion, a person with past positive experience using prescription medications may feel more
confident using them again. It is truly an individual decision and will not interfere with
the Quit Smoking Now! or Quit Chewing Now! programs.
|
|
The two most common prescription medications for nicotine addiction are bupropion (Wellbutrin) and
verenicline (Chantix). If you plan to use one those medications, you will need to start taking
them 1-2 weeks before your quit date. You will probably be advised to stay on them for up
to six months. Be sure to discuss possible side effects and drug interactions with your
prescriber.
|
|
As a licensed Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Debbie can write the prescription. It will
require a separate appointment two weeks prior to the Stop Smoking Now! or Stop Chewing Now! appointment.
(The prescription appointment is not included in cessation program cost and as such is
charged separately. The appointment cost is usually not covered by insurance).

|
Should I cut down on tobacco use ahead of time before my first session?
|
Certainly, if you would like to but you don’t have to. An easy way to cut back is to
take out one cigarette or dip/pinch each day. For example, if you currently smoke 15
cigarettes a day, tomorrow you would have 14, the following day 13, then 12, and so on.
Chewers & Dippers: Did you know that tobacco held in the cheek for 30 minutes is the same as
smoking 3 cigarettes? Reducing by even just one pinch a day is helpful.
|
|
Cutting down is a great way to begin converting your thoughts about quitting smoking or chewing into
actually taking action. It’s a process that you can begin at home even before you come
in for the first session.
